Eva Dijkstra

Eva Dijkstra draws on the language of minimalist painting. Primarily working with shaped canvases, she navigates the intersection of sculpture and painting. Seeking to dissolve the boundaries between object and painting, she crafts intricate wooden three-dimensional supports over which canvas is stretched and treated with paint or pure pigment.

A distinctive feature of her work is the second layer reveal. Each piece finds its origins in data, a hidden narrative beneath the surface waiting to be unveiled. Dijkstra meticulously dissects and translates ‘found’ numbers into precisely crafted diagrams, forming the foundation of her compositions. This process transforms raw data into visual poetry, merging analytical rigor with artistic expression.

After this initial process her work develops into bold and colourful compositions. Both exact and abstract, never obvious, always relevant. The result is a harmonious blend of minimalism, data and complexity. Unexpected, colourful but foremost meaningful.
