We are delighted to announce Liz Douglas upcoming retrospective exhibition Landscape: A Closer Look which we have co-curated with Liz's husband, Jim. The exhibition brings together a collection of drawings and paintings spanning the artist’s career and will run from 19 August 2023 until 13 January 2024 at the Peebles Library, Museum and Gallery.
From intimate knowledge of the rural landscape where she grew up, Liz Douglas spent her life closely observing, drawing and painting special places she discovered across Scotland to produce a very distinctive body of artwork.
Her love of the natural world inspired her evolving dialogue with traditions in contemporary painting. The exhibition will show how her painting developed and changed through her career and examples of her experiments and methods will also be shown.
