Views from a Sanctuary: Joan Doerr

&Gallery is delighted to present the exhibition Views from a Sanctuary. This is Joan Doerr’s first solo show with the &Gallery and features a new body of work painted during the past year.
 
Joan’s bold, expressive paintings are inspired by the shapes, textures and colours observed in the everyday and derived from her immediate surroundings. She works intuitively and instinctively, often applying and removing layers of paint and drawing; sometimes splattering, sometimes carefully reapplying the paint, and continuing the whole process until she is satisfied with their depth and atmosphere.
