Joan Doerr is a Scottish abstract painter. Her home studio is in Edinburgh’s West End. Joan has exhibited widely across the UK, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in London in 2014, 2016 and 2017.

“Initially my inspiration to paint comes from shapes, textures and colours observed in the everyday, but mainly my paintings are constructed through process. I work with acrylics, often applying and removing layers of paint and drawing: sometimes splattering, sometimes carefully reapplying the paint, and continuing the whole process until I am satisfied with their depth and atmosphere.”
